Million Dollar Ravioli Casserole

Million Dollar Ravioli Casserole is a rich, creamy, and comforting baked dish combining tender cheese-filled ravioli with a savory blend of Italian sausage, a luscious cheese mix, garlic, and herbs. This easy-to-make casserole is perfect for family dinners, gatherings, or potlucks, delivering gourmet flavors with minimal preparation.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheese Blend

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Ravioli

  • 1 package (about 9-12 oz) pre-cooked cheese ravioli (ricotta and cheese filled)

Meat

  • 12 oz Italian sausage (mild or spicy), browned and crumbled

Sauce and Seasonings

  • 1 cup Alfredo sauce or 8 oz softened cream cheese
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (plus more for garnish)
  • Optional: 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sausage: Start by browning the Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Once browned and cooked through, drain any excess fat to keep the casserole from getting greasy.
  2. Preheat the Oven and Assemble Sauce: While the sausage is cooking, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine your Alfredo sauce or softened cream cheese with minced garlic and Italian seasoning. Stir until smooth and well blended to create a creamy base.
  3. Combine Ravioli and Sauce: Add your pre-cooked ravioli directly into the sauce mixture, stirring gently to coat each piece evenly. This ensures every bite is flavorful and creamy.
  4. Layer the Casserole: In a greased casserole dish, spread half of the ravioli mixture evenly. Sprinkle half of the cooked sausage over the ravioli, then add a generous layer of shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Repeat with the remaining ravioli and sausage, finishing with the rest of the cheese on top.
  5. Bake Until Bubbly: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the cheese is melted, golden, and bubbly. Let it rest a few minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • Choose quality ravioli: Fresh or high-quality frozen ravioli provides the best texture.
  • Don’t overcook ravioli beforehand: Par-cooked ravioli prevents mushiness after baking.
  • Layer cheeses evenly: Creates a gooey golden crust and creamy base underneath.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan: Melts better and offers richer aroma.
  • Adjust seasoning carefully: Italian sausage adds saltiness—taste before adding extra salt.
